First Steps to Getting Started in a Mompreneur Business
Here are the First Steps to Getting Started in a Mompreneur Business and go from “Mom” to “Mompreneur”!
“Mompreneur” is a term that mom’s all over the world have embraced with ferocity. We are not your cookie baking grandmothers, we are now a force in the business world. The National Association of Women Business Owners estimates that women own more than 9.4 million businesses in the United States, employing nearly 7.9 million people, and earning $1.5 trillion (yes, with a “tr”) in revenue as of 2015.
Mompreneurs are a special breed of woman, they are the women who see the similarities between handling a home and running a business. Both require strong organizational and leadership skills, determination, creativity, and flexibility. Flexibility being the big KEYWORD right there!
But it takes more than understanding how to run a home and a business to make you successful. So let’s look at the first steps to getting started in a mompreneur business.
First Steps to Getting Started in a Mompreneur Business: STEP #1
Brainstorm, mindmap, vent, talk, plan, and re-plan all you can. You may have thousands of ideas floating through your head but only a few (maybe just 1) are going to be profitable and feasible with your schedule.
As moms we have plenty of opportunity to find ideas that will make life easier, stress free, or cut out extra chores for us. These are all excellent ideas. If you can find an idea that you love and that helps out humanity, you might just have a winner!
The bottom line is to get it all down on paper (or digital) and get yourself organized for the next step.

Research until your hearts content….
Have you ever had an ‘ah-ha!’ moment about some miracle product that would make your life easier only to find out that it has already been made (and just so happens is a best seller?)
Well, you’re not alone. And this doesn’t mean that your idea isn’t still feasible. What it does mean is that you need to do your due diligence and research, research, research to make your product idea different and better than the competition.
There is always going to be room for improvement, and you can fill in that need.
Social media is a hotbed of activity. You can find all sorts of topics around your product idea, chat groups, message boards, and communities to help you work out the fine details. What needs do these people still have that you can solve?
As your idea becomes more real, you will need to move on to the manufacturing of the prototype, or if your idea is an intellectual product, you will move on to branding and marketing.
