Having a Facebook business page may be new hat to you, but I promise you, if you want to be seen as a LEGITIMATE business, you need to have a business page. Cut the cord and make the switch!

Facebook is continuously updating.  But there are still many strategies that remain true, even with all of the many changes made by Facebook.

In our post below, I will go over ways to improve your Facebook marketing:

  • Facebook Likes
  • Improve your page by ensuring your profile and cover photo are high quality images that are in line with what your brand identity is.
  • Fill in every part of your “About” section of your page with the most current information.
  • At least once a month, make sure you go through your Page and remove any outdated information, irrelevant content, or photos that do not make sense for your brand.
  • Add a plugin to your website where people can “Like” your Facebook page straight from your blog or website.
  • Add your Facebook page link to your newsletter email when users subscribe to your list.
  • Cross-promote your Facebook page on your other networks. Use Twitter to tweet your Facebook business page link and add a “call to action” to like your page. Let people know WHY to like your page. For example; “Like us for the latest how-to [fill in the blank]”.

According to a survey conducted by Facebook, organic posts that come across as “too promotional” have one or more of these qualities: (source: Hootsuite)

  1. They solely push people to buy a product or install an app
  2. They push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
  3. They reuse the exact same content from ads.

In short, you want to be creating better content. Period.

What is “better content”? Better content is posting and sharing information your fans actually want to see.

  • Provide content that people want to see or hear. Some of you may ask, how do I know what they want? If this is the case, you should take a step back and look at your customer avatar. Take some time to define your target customer. Who is the person you are targeting to buy your product? What would they want to see? If you do not know this, then listen to them. Find where these people are hanging out. If you’re selling health and wellness products, maybe you would find them at your local gym. Online, you may find them in a weight loss forum. If you are targeting stamp collectors, then go find them in an online Facebook group for stamp collectors.
  • Post your content at the right time. This is the benefit of Facebook Insights. Outside of being FREE, it will tell you when the most people see or interact with your posts! Once you see a trend, start posting at the same time!
  • Post about trending topics or current events. I use Feedly to find topics in my niche. Facebook’s native trends will show you what’s trending. Spin up a post and post about it too.
  • Post selfies. People want to see a face to your brand. On social, they want to see the face behind the name.
  • Post viral quotes. Post Planner’s tool queues up the most popular quotes at your fingertips to post.
  • Post pictures of your product in use. Do you have an amazing before and after photo? Post it, but be sure to add the personal story in the caption! This will make it more believable and human.

Better Fb content

  • Facebook Rules to Follow
  • Do not buy likes. You may think that having a lot of followers on your Facebook account will give you credibility. Don’t do it. It’s better to have 10 targeted followers, than 100 spam bots following you.
  • Don’t try and trick Facebook. Facebook knows Facebook. It’s not smart business to try and outsmart them. What if they shut down your page? You’re done. Period.
  • Do not be too promotional in your posts. Remember you’re telling a story, not airing a commercial. Let your fans in the front door and showcase what you’re all about. When it comes time for your fan to purchase a product or service in your niche, it is you that comes top of mind.

Use these tips and tricks after building your Facebook Fan Page to gain likes and engagement. Leave a comment on this post if you’ve learned something new! SHARE the love with any friends or teammates who might benefit from this information.
